Wandering through the Streets of Pune (Feb 11, 2022)

Street Vendors for Vada-Pav, Chai, Kachi Dabeli, Bhel Puri are ubiquitous.

The Kabada (garbage) market is a jumbled assortment that includes electronics mixed with old shoes, bangles and calculators. It would take an Encyclopedia to tabulate all the things sold here! You can even find some old digital tablets and perhaps in working condition.

This puncture repair shop as the name says has been converted to an electrical wiring shop. And the shopkeeper is fast asleep...

A homeless person sleeping under a tree, cushioned by discarded plastic bags and blanket.

In the heat, there is always room for Maggi! This person is doing brisk business selling Masala Maggi Noodles mixed with some vegetables.

Once upon a time, it was actually Modern Sofa Repair Works, now needing some major repairs itself!

Pune Cantonment ended at this place once upon a time. Dilapidated vehicles from decades ago, adorn the board announcing the limits of Pune.

Where there is unoccupied land, there will be population in Indian cities. Even by the "banks" of a sewer we have houses, vehicles parked, and clotheslines. One only hopes the sewer overflows very rarely.

70% off on all "branded" shoes! Adidas, Nike, you name it: possibly they will even be willing to change the stickers for you if you're willing to wait.

And all at once, a working Baby Rajdoot - the Rajdoot GTS made famous by Rishi Kapoor in Bobby (1973)

This girl was gathering flowers from  across the green fence. She was startled by me and initially thought I was the Police - but recovered fast enough to offer me a flower!

A Parsi Temple

A Video Games Parlor after ages! This even had one occupant playing whichever game he was addicted to. When we didn't have computers, we still had these Video Games, way back in the 1970's.

The manager of the Video Game Parlor was alarmed that I was taking photos of his shop front - maybe I was a snoop.

Mondays are Holidays for Dorabjee Restaurant, perhaps since 1878. The restaurant was completely empty, but had an aged waiter who also seemed to be half the age of the restaurant. The dog sleeping outside looks reasonably young though.

I wondered exactly how old these buildings were, whose plaster had fallen off eons ago. They reminded me of dead and historical Venice.

Herbs and Hakim - and the Hakim seems to be sitting outside waiting for  customers. Diabetes, High BP, Sciatica, Cupping therapy, you name it! "Male" and "Female" disorders is a euphemism obviously for the sex equipment not working adequately!

A fruit vendor near Kayani's Bakery

Kayani's is an old bakery, and you are stuck in a very long line for anywhere from 30 min to 1.5 hours by which time you have worked up an appetite for their cake and biscuits.
