Manila: A few hours at Manila Bay at night

I was on an official trip to Manila for just a couple of days, but got a few hours at night to see the Manila Bay near SM Mall Of Asia. Street life, people, and street food were what I captured as very chaotic memories.

The Metro is a far better way to travel in Manila because of traffic on the roads. There are long lines for the metros, and people are allowed on the platform only a few minutes before the train arrives.

The metro in Manila is almost as crowded as New Delhi. But you do have space to stand without being swept off your feet sandwiched between obese men and women, and I didn't have to endure the smell of sweaty armpits, unlike the Indian capital.

Hawkers near the metro platform reminded me of my hometown, Hyderabad. This scene could have easily been from the old city except for the faces.

There's a bridge at the back of SM Mall Of Asia, to the bay at the back, which offers this enchanting view.

What is a nightscape without the light trails of traffic? The red trails are the taillights while the yellow ones are headlights.
Youngsters on bicycles relaxing on Manila bayfront.

The bayfront wall is quite wide and affords a spot for romance in the middle of a crowd.

A group of friends.

And lovers too.
Christmas spirit and decorations were on at the SM Mall Of Asia.

Dr.Kwek -Kwek was very busy! I had to try out some Balut with chilli-vinegar!

1 Day Old Chicks. Somehow, imagining cute, golden, fluffy chicks made this unpalatable for me. I suppose it's rather like frying your own pet mouse vs. killing rats because they cause plague. I couldn't get myself to buy and try one rationally - put it down to emotional squeamishness!

Traffic in Manila seems crazily similar to Hyderabad and a 10 km stretch could take an hour to navigate. Except that everyone waits and don't run into each other or honk in chaotic cacophony for all those hours.

Distilled Spirit flavored with citrus fruits! That is unusual, compared to the regular fare of whisky, rum, vodka, beer and liquor.

Street Food - this time it was "Pepa Wings", variations of spicy chicken wings.
